CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA / RankWire.AI / – Bank of America has unveiled a $250 billion effort aimed at financing and bolstering essential infrastructure projects across the United States. The 18-month initiative was announced on August 12 and will encompass eligible activities from January 1, 2026, through July 4, 2027. It is also timed to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the United States and will focus on areas such as digital systems, energy and power, and fundamental infrastructure.

The $250 billion goal includes a variety of financial activities rather than just direct loans or investments. Bank of America will account for eligible primary-market lending, investments, capital markets transactions, and advisory services toward the total. Additionally, the initiative provides banking and supply-chain solutions for qualifying projects, supporting efforts at both corporate and asset levels. The bank intends to collaborate across public and private markets as companies seek capital for large-scale infrastructure projects.
Digital infrastructure constitutes one of the three main categories within the program. Projects eligible for funding include data centers, computing hardware, chips, equipment, telecommunications networks, and semiconductor infrastructure. Energy-related initiatives can involve conventional and renewable power generation, energy storage, and distribution systems. Core infrastructure encompasses transportation, electric and energy transmission, grid optimization, water systems, critical minerals, and mining. The bank stated that these categories reflect the high demand for computing capacity, energy, manufacturing, transportation, and diversified supply chains across the country.
Funding targets digital, energy, and core infrastructure
Bank of America explained that the program will mobilize capital through its global markets platform, advisory operations, and balance sheet. Its Global Capital Solutions and Global Infrastructure & Sustainable Finance teams will take the lead. All eight of the bank’s business lines will support the initiative. Jim DeMare, co-president of Bank of America, associated the effort with infrastructure that underpins the economy, energy security, and technological progress. The bank anticipates that eligible transactions will contribute toward the $250 billion goal during the designated period.
The initiative also emphasizes employment and community development as core objectives. Bank of America noted that infrastructure financing can create jobs in construction, manufacturing, technology, and long-term operations. Projects like data centers, power facilities, transportation systems, and grid upgrades need workers during construction and ongoing maintenance. The bank also promotes workforce training through partnerships with employers, nonprofits, and community colleges. In 2025, it allocated nearly $40 million to over 730 workforce development partners across U.S. markets.
Program duration extends to July 4, 2027
Those workforce partners reported that their programs helped connect more than 90,000 individuals with employment opportunities in 2025, while providing over 290,000 people with access to training, education, and career-readiness initiatives. Bank of America clarified that these figures are separate from the infrastructure financing target. Karen Fang, the bank’s global head of infrastructure and sustainable finance, highlighted that large infrastructure projects require financing across interconnected sectors and also serves as co-head of Global Capital Solutions.
Progress will be assessed based on eligible activities completed within the 18-month timeframe, following the methodology used for its existing $1.5 trillion, 10-year sustainable finance goal. The new initiative specifically aims to support infrastructure development and modernization in the United States. Its July 4, 2027, deadline extends the program by one year beyond the nation’s 250th anniversary. The bank stated that this financing effort seeks to bolster infrastructure, economic growth, employment opportunities, and community development nationwide.
